Ribbit Hood – Edward Van Winkle

Rating: 5 stars

I read this self-proclaimed novella in a small break before my next hold is ready at the library, and I was very happy with my choice!

It’s a Robin Hood fable but with frogs. That’s about all you need to know, though I don’t mind going into more detail. The story is great and a nice little distraction. The puns are lots of fun too. If I had my druthers, I’d make more of them, but I’m not the writer, and the writer took great care with this story. Though the novella is written tongue-in-cheek, it’s family friendly and reminded me of the funny, plucky Robin Hood stories I’d been raised with.

It’s a good, earnest work and deserving of respect. There’s a lot of flim-flam in writing, and this has none of it. The author wanted to tell a story, and he told one, one that I quite enjoyed.
