Short Tales of Horror – Regina Puckett

Rating: 4 stars

The short: A little rough of a beginning but a great follow-through.

The long: When I first cracked open the book and went through the first few pages, I was ready to slam it closed and go onto something else. There were a few sentences that annoyed me and phrases like “hot summer heat,” but I’m glad I didn’t give up. The first story, Mine, has somewhat of a rough beginning, but it delivers by the end, and the second story, Crying Through Plastic Eyes, is fantastic and could easily be compared to some of my favorite horror short stories.

Once I got past the little problems and oversights in editing, I got into the stories. They go quickly, but it’s not just that they’re quick. The writing is great, and it sucked me in. I was reminded of some of Stephen King’s stories that are quick ditties that get you wrapped up for just a moment in their little world.
